What Families and Friends Need to Know

IDEAS is a completely volunteer run organization. We are extremely grateful and thankful to our families and friends for their tremendous generosity in sharing their time, talents and resources. IDEAS wants to help make sure families have the information they need to hold successful fundraisers. Please review the following information.
 
Did You Know?
Non profit organizations are highly scrutinized and becoming even more highly regulated. All states have charitable solicitation statutes. The specifics of the statutes vary from state-to-state, but all require a non profit to register with the state before publicizing an event and soliciting the state’s residents for contributions. IDEAS is required to register in every state where it actively conducts fundraising events and solicitations. Local fundraising events held by our families are subject to the same regulations and requirements as IDEAS. IDEAS will complete the registration process in any state where a family will be holding a fundraising event. Contact us and let us know what you are planning!
 
Did You Know?
Fundraising events such as raffles, 50/50’s, bingo, and other games of chance may fall under additional regulations from your state gaming board and may require additional registrations and fees. IDEAS can help determine if additional registrations are required and will complete them for you.

Did You Know?
Failure to register with the appropriate state agency can result in serious, significant fines and penalties to volunteers and IDEAS and can jeopardize IDEAS’s tax-exempt status.
 
What Do You Need To Do?
Before organizing, publicizing and conducting a fundraising event, contact IDEAS at 503-253-2872 or via email at .

• Discuss your proposed fundraising event plans with IDEAS.
• Check to see if IDEAS is registered to solicit charitable donations in your state.
• Provide relevant information so that IDEAS can complete all appropriate registrations well in advance of your event. 

As volunteers we all want to do our part and contribute to IDEAS. The IDEAS Board of Directors, along with the state and federal regulatory agencies, desires to maintain the highest level of integrity in our fundraising efforts.
